After parsing the spam, SpamX flashes its characteristic
"Looks Like Spam To Me!" exclamation and displays the results in the Contents area of the display.
The display shows a summary of the results found by SpamX including the best determination of the
IP address responsible for sourcing the spam and the complaint addresses found for the top level
IP block owner for that address. Depending on the characteristics of the particular spam and the
particular Config settings chosen, there may be additional information displayed as it
applies.
v1.2
Version 1.2 adds detection of headers characteristic of "Trojan Spambot
Zombie" PCs that have been taken over by such Trojans as Netsky and
turned into spamming robots.
v1.2 Due to a variety of issues with overseas ISPs [like allowing their abuse mailboxes
to fill up resulting in bounced spam reports and general lack of action in shutting spammers down,
overall], SpamX now sends reports to EVERY contact it locates from the data available on the
Internet instead of just the abuse mailbox if the ISP is located overseas. As long as the ISPs in
North America continue to "behave themselves" SpamX will to continue to send to their abuse
addresses, only, if they are RFC compliant and include one in their whois data but they should be
advised that they are subject to the same treatement as the overseas ISPs if they stop being
responsible.
